Into the Maelstrom was a two part swim in The Arctic circle. My brothers and I became the first people in history to swim across the largest 2 Whirlpools on the planet.
The Moskstraumen is 8.5km wide and located near the Lofoten Islands in Norway. Inside the Arctic circle. We took a boat out to the far side, then swam back across the maelstrom to our end point on the mainland, Helle.
After the swim I created an artwork that was a visual representation of that journey and experience across the World’s largest whirlpool.
